About Our Team

Since its inception, the cornerstone of Lands of Exile has been our community. We have different teams that work as wagon wheels that keep the caravan moving, which are shown below.

Roles:

Writers: These are people that write content for the games: mods, plotlines, puzzles, specific lore, etc. Writers do not write the big, over-arching storylines (Drow, Immortals, etc) – they write singular plotlines or mods that follow a specific story or concept. Writers can be people that play Player characters, but can’t use the meta knowledge to participate in the plotlines that they write.

Storytellers: Storytellers do everything that Writers do, but they also manage these stories on site, at the game. They organize NPCs for a mod, they answer questions about them on site, and they contribute to the over-arching stories of our world. They have an understanding of the plotlines happening and can direct you to a Writer that is doing a specific plotline. You can think of Storytellers as Story Managers – they help manage continuity and the connections between plotlines. Storytellers do not have Player Characters – they may have recurring NPCs.

Facilitators: Facilitators fulfill a specific facet of the game for the daily operations. Examples of this are Scene Requests and Backstory reviews, Wartable-game management, Head Medic, Community management, site clean-up management, etc. Facilitators can have Player Characters and other roles.

NPC Wranglers – NPC Wranglers are people that play full-time NPCs and run specific things on site. They do not write for the game, but are given content to run and trusted with meta storyline knowledge. They send out mods, set things up, and make sure that individual stories are running smoothly on site. NPC Wranglers are trained and trusted with expensive equipment and costuming, and are frequently the “big bads.” NPC Wranglers can be full or part time, oftentimes playing Player Characters at events they aren’t NPC Wrangling for. Being an NPC Wrangler requires one game of being a full-time NPC, which also will include a training session/orientation to the special effects equipment, technology, and expensive/large costuming. NPC Wranglers also make the decisions for who can use (and train people how to use) the higher level equipment.

Set Maker – These are people who create costuming, props, or other physical aspects of the game to bring the world to life. They design and create puzzles, interactive technology, props, costuming, sets, etc. Set Makers can be Player Characters.

Administrative game staff: These are staff of the game that deal with the behind the scenes, and upper level “directing” of the game. These are the people that do the paperwork, make sure the game is running smoothly on an out of game level, and have a macro view of the game as a whole. Admin currently include the GM and Assistant GM.

All of the team are listed below alphabetically. You can find a Directory here if you need assistance with something specific.

They joined plot in 2016, were the Head of Plot for 2017-2019, and became the Director and Owner in 2019 with King Heron Events. Jen Pan

Webmaster

Lorekeeper

She/Her

Jen joined plot in May of 2016. Costumer and crafter for her whole life, Jen fell in love with LARPing at Lands of Exile game 2. Drawn to the high level of immersion and costuming, she was allowed to let her creativity fly as a player, which is extremely important to her in a game. After 1.5 years as a PC, she realized her true passion at LARP was creating story for others through propmaking, NPCing, and mod writing. Jen also enjoys most creative hobbies, sciencing, insect Druidry, and learning new things about herself through LARPing.

Elizabeth "Ellie" Banks

Game Master

Head of Plot

She/Her/They/Them

While she is in fact the human equivalent of a cinnamon bun, Ellie has the tendency to run face first into whatever opportunities come her way! Starting as an NPC, she unlocked the plot team achievement in the Fall of 2016. A Principal in Ohio most of the year, she travels to North Carolina 6 weekends (or more) a year to live her best life. In her spare time, she enjoys cats, creating FAR too many NPCs, hawks, teaching through LARP, communicating in terrible puns, and trying her best.

Jeroen Stone

Lore Developer

Writer

Immersion Specialist

NPC Crew

He/Him

Jeroen wants the players to be able to feel their experience, rather than merely seeing and hearing it, and loves working with a team that creates that very thing. He has been LARPing for over 7 years now and playing multiple characters with varying quirks and personalities helps him to understand himself as well as create an environment for the player that not only seems believable, but wondrous at the same time.

Alright, enough with the mushy stuff. He likes motorcycles, blacksmithing, armor, and shield walls.
